Umtiti: I couldn't leave because, Barcelona is my home

After penning a new five-year deal at Barcelona, Samuel Umtiti addressed the media on Monday and revealed that leaving the club would be a regretful decision for him.

Umtiti left the France's international training camp to pen the new deal - which has a release clause of 500 million euros - and to discuss it, before returning to Paris to continue Les Bleus' preparations for the World Cup.

"I'm very happy and proud to renew with Barcelona and I'm actually a little nervous about it because it means my dream continues," he said.

"From my first day here, I've felt at home and now I get to stay.

"I'm very happy, happy at the club and in the city.

"I have the confidence of everyone here and I couldn't leave.

"This is my home.

"Many things have been said, but my priority was always to renew and I've always said that, I wanted to remain at my home.

"My dream is to play with the best at the best club in the world.

"I couldn't see myself at another team.

"I'm happy and I just want to continue playing and winning titles here."

The Frenchman also discussed his best and worst moments since his time at the club to date and his formidable partnership with Gerard Pique.

"Arriving here was maybe my best moment and the PSG game at home was too, while the worst was definitely Roma," he confessed.

"Since I arrived, I've had a very good understanding with Pique too and we like to have a laugh.

"He has really helped my progress and it brings me great joy to work with him."

Barcelona fans can now look forward to seeing this partnership at the Camp Nou for many more seasons.
