Guardiola praises Emery: 'Welcome to England, another good manager is coming here'
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has praised Arsenal's impending appointment of Unai Emery as the club's new manager.
The 46-year-old Emery, who left Paris Saint-Germain this summer after two years in Ligue 1, is set to replace Wenger as boss at the Emirates Stadium on a three-year contract worth £5million a year.
Guardiola is a known admirer of Emery after he guided Valencia into the Champions League and winning three straight Europa League titles with Sevilla.
'His career speaks for itself, did it perfect in Spain with many teams – Valencia, Sevilla - and did it really well in France,' Guardiola told Sky Sports.
'Welcome to England, another good manager is coming here.'
Guardiola was speaking at Wentworth golf club, where he is playing the Pro-Am tournament alongside Tommy Fleetwood ahead of this week's BMW PGA Championship.
But the City boss is not expecting himself to be as slick around Wentworth's west course as his teams usually are on the pitch.
'Bad as always!' Guardiola joked when asked about the state of his golf game.
'No, they invite me and always a pleasure. In summer time, I try to play golf, I love this game and they invite me. It is close to Manchester so we come down and enjoy the day.
'Now is time to rest, to enjoy what we have done this season and prepare for the next one.
'Football is a new challenge. Always the good athletes, teams forget what they have done and think what they have to do again.'
