FAYSOL OLUWAKEMI, PROF OLAGOKE TASKS YOUTH AND GOVERNMENT ON NATION BUILDING
Youths in Oyo state has been tasked to be actively involved in democratic process and nation building in a bid to attain an all encompassing system of governance.
The Vice Chairman of the Governing Council of the Institute of Policy Management Development, Engr. Prof. S.A Olagoke JP made this call while delivering a 14-paged paper presentation, at the celebration of the 2018 Democracy Day as organized by the Association of Registered Social Youth Clubs in Oyo State ARSOYOC on Tuesday (Democracy day 2018).
The event held at the House of Chiefs, Oyo State House of Assembly, Secretariat Ibadan featured a Democracy Talk titled Youth Impact in Democratic Process and Nation Building as well as the presentation of awards to eminent personalities. Olagoke while delivering his lecture also faulted the social structure which has according to him 'trapped youths in the vessel of feudalism and hegemonic passion for wealth.' He however reiterated the essence of youths as agents of socialization only if their vibrancy is put into positive use.
Meanwhile, fast rising Ibadan Petals FM OAP, Faysol Oluwakemi who was awarded for outstanding support to the youths especially in the health sector, also urged the government to empower and support youth organizations and initiatives adding that, that is the fastest route towards nation building. He also added that the youth has a the largest population in the country which is an advantage to the development of any nation.
Faysol Oluwakemi while advising the youths urged them to be creative and start thinking on new ideas and initiatives that is marketable and self-reliance which would also improve the economy of Nigeria. The event was well attended by eminent personalities including the Special Adviser to Oyo State Government on Youths and Sports, Hon. Afeez Bolaji Repete, Asiwaju Nurudeen Babatunde of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, leaders of youth clubs and associations in Oyo state among others.
