Faces Of Armed Robbers Captured By FSARS Operatives In Lagos

Three suspected armed robbers who have been terrorising and robbing residents of Olomi New site area of Ibadan, Oyo State, Southwest Nigeria of their cars, cash and handsets for long have been arrested by peratives of the Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad, FSARS, Lagos.

Three stolen vehicles were recovered from them in Lagos.

According to a police source, the suspects were arrested after the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP in charge of FSARS, Lagos, Mr Ibrahim Kaoje dispatched a team led by DSP Olaniyi Festus in charge of Strike Unit One at the FSARS to trail and arrest the suspects following a tip off.

Police identified the arrested suspects as Shakiru Iyanda, 46, aka Dangote who claimed to reside at Iyana-Iba area of Lagos; Emmanuel Adio, 34.aka Lengelenge and Rasaki Saheed, 35, aka Saheed Ibafo.

Nemesis caught up with the suspects on 8 March, 2018, when DCP Ibrahim Kaoje received a tip-off that some persons suspected to be robbers were disposing off cars suspected to be stolen to unsuspecting members of the public at give away price at Iyana Iba area of Lagos.

The source said that following the report, Kaoje directed a team led by Festus to fish out the suspects and recover the stolen vehicles from them.

The source further said that following discreet intelligence gathering, the police team arrested the alleged ring leader of the robbery gang, Dangote at Iyana Iba area of Lagos.

During investigation, according to the police, Dangote allegedly confessed to the crime that he was the leader of a three-man gang that had been robbing residents of Olomi new site in Ibadan in, Oyo State of their cash, handsets, jewelries and cars since December, 2017.

He led the police to arrest his two accomplices.

The vehicles recovered, the police said, were a Toyota Camry with Reg. No. FST 51 ER, Nissan Amera and Toyota Corolla.

In his alleged confession to the Police, Iyanda allegedly stated: “I am the leader of the robbery gang that had been robbing the residents of Olomi new site in Ibadan of their cash, handsets and three vehicles and drove them to Iyana Iba, Lagos to look for buyers for them. But we have only sold two of the cars before we were arrested and we promised to change and look for a decent job to do to survive if we are set free.”

The suspects would be charged to court after investigation.
