AN INTERVIEW WITH THE MANAGER OF P&F MODELS MANAGEMENT AGENCY

What's your Vision for starting the agency?
P&F: Well! It began during the course of my study at the Federal University of Technology Minna. I was opportuned to be a member of a social organizing team and there was a day we were discussing about fashion oriented places and it came as a shock that Kwara state wasn't mentioned. And checking the team, i came to the realization that majority of those who constituted the team are from Kwara state, ilorin precisely, so I began to wonder why ilorin wasn't amongst the list of fashion oriented states to people, and why they believe we can't bring up fashion in the industry, so I decided to work with like minded persons who shared in my vision of placing Kwara state on the good map of fashion oriented places and all this began in 2014. When it started, I met with my brother and a couple of friends and upon discussion, the first task was to change the fashion orientation of our people, while the second task was to empower the youths in the industry and that's what we have been doing over the years. These has helped shaped the notion that even if you aren't a musician, you can still contribute to the entertainment and lifestyle industry.

What were your childhood dream?
P&F: Childhood dream!!! I wouldn't call it childhood dream but a dream and idea that has been in me since childhood. My dad calls me Chairman (Alaga) right from when I was young, he made me realize I can create things and make things happen. My dream from childhood has always been vast, I don't see myself fixed to a station, I see myself in a situation where I can handle series of things simulataneously.

Can you tell us about your educational background?
P&F: I attended Olumawu Nur/Pry School for my primary education and also attended Federal Govt College Ilorin, and subsequently Federal University of Technobeenlogy Minna. I also attended "Fab Fashion" school and I worked with Eva in Minna

How do you fare with Negative talks surrounding your type of job?
P&F: That's fine, that's really fine.
The major thing is that we understand our people, all we do is to reshape their thoughts and orientate them socially. It hasn't really been a challenge but a push, because people think doing this is irresponsible, we just need people to see the positive things inherent in the industry.

Who is your greatest influence?
P&F: First, people mistake influence for role models, my own influence is my brother, he is by my side always, he appreciates fashion and what he brings to the table is always amazing. He was the first person to accept and welcome my idea about all this.

How do you cope with managing different people?
P&F: it depends on the kind of person you are, your level of tolerance and professionalism. You have to be positive even when it's challenging, your ability to be tolerant will help in seeing potential in everyone. I have the opportunity to meet different people and I understand each class of people.

What are the qualities a model should possess?
P&F: The qualities of a professional models are right look in general, skills and Personality.

How do you cope with female folks in the industry?
P&F: The basic thing is the kind of person you are. I'm a Muslim, I love my religion, and away from the misconceptions about the religion, the teachings are basic and it has helped me understand a lot. Islam made me realize how short life is so in whatever a person gets involves in, these questions should come to mind. Do I influence people? Do I take advantage of people? So the first thing we tell our female folks is that, they shouldn't have negative thoughts in what they are doing in the industry. There's a saying of which I oblige to and following it really makes things easier in the industry. "Do not have any affair with a co-worker in the modeling industry. So, if anyone is involve in modeling and doesn't have the right mindset which is to be self disciplined, I fear that calls for the downfall of such person in the industry.

Now you run a model academy, do you have it in mind to start a modeling agency where people can register on becoming a model?

Someone you will like to work with as a model?
P&F: The Models I will like to work with are the ones am working with presently: Olatayo, Rebecca Giwa, Hassan Rukayat, Naomi Unuakpa etc. although I also give a big thumbs up and respect to the well established black models such as Mayowa Nicholas, Victor Ndigwe for really putting Africa models on the map.

What do you do in your leisure time?
P&F: In my own view as an entrepreneur, you don't really find yourself having a free time. But if I'm not attending to anyone like clients or working on a project, I just stay back home or read my Quran.
